General Interests

  • The relationship and connections between youth, crime, and culture, and more generally the development of a Cultural Criminology and its qualitative methodologies.
  • The criminalisation of youth and youth cultures and young people violence and anti-social behaviour.

Current Research Projects

At the present time I am writing a book with Prof John Muncie for Sage Publications entitled 'The Story of Crime' investigating the voices and narratives of crime, by examining autobiography/life stories and photographic images that contain within them the 'story' of crime. Research Supervision I am happy to supervise students interested in any of the above topics as well as any investigation into culture/crime/deviance generally, especially those with a European or international dimension. I am also interested in any investigations into so called anti-social behaviour and violence.
